Digital Dentistry Made Tangible: Our Start into the Curriculum at the University of Witten/Herdecke
Digital Dentistry Made Tangible: Our Start into the Curriculum at the University of Witten/Herdecke On September 25, 2026, the Curriculum Digital Dentistry was officially launched at the affiliated institute for digital competence in dentistry at the University of Witten/Herdecke. I had the pleasure of attending the kick-off meeting and thus the first module as a participant, and I would like to share my impressions with you. A Successful Kick-Off My warmest congratulations go to Dr. Cyrus Alamouti , one of the founders of this continuing education series. Together with the other lecturers and tutors, including Dr. Karsten Kamm, he has created an opening event that leaves you wanting more: practical, well-founded, and with a palpable enthusiasm for the subject. What Was on the Agenda The afternoon covered a wide range of topics. After the welcome and a round of introductions, the focus turned to digital education concepts at UW/H : from the idea of digital education to standardized digital processes and gold standards in selecting digital components, through to data management. In the " Dental Practice of the Future " segment, things got very concrete. The focus was on the digital workflow in the practice, an overview of the software landscape, and a look at the visions that will shape our professional everyday life in the coming years. The event concluded with a tour of the campus and plenty of opportunity for exchange among colleagues. Why This Matters for Us at Dr. B.-Digitec For us at Dr. B.-Digitec GmbH , this continuing education program is another building block in our ongoing effort to expand our digital expertise. Our work is based on digital data, most notably intraoral scans. The better we understand the workflows in dental practices, the smoother our collaboration becomes. Our partners in dental practices and in sleep medicine benefit from this directly: through precise, digitally manufactured solutions, short turnaround times, and communication built on a shared digital understanding. Our Recommendation to Colleagues To all those who have yet to take their first steps into digital dentistry, I can wholeheartedly recommend this curriculum. It offers the ideal framework to enter the world of digital workflows in a well-founded, structured, and practical way, in exchange with lecturers who live these workflows themselves on a daily basis. I am very much looking forward to the upcoming modules and will be happy to continue reporting here. Dr. Markus Beckers, Dr. B.-Digitec GmbH
